The meetings of the church are not for consumers, but for people looking for service. They look to serve before, during, and after their meetings together. They search for someone to encourage to live in Christ. They meet with other Christians not to receive, but to give. They have the heart of God.
“It is as a writer of gospel songs I am proud to be known, for in that way I may be of the most use to my Master, whom I serve willingly although not as efficiently as is my desire.” —C.A. Miles
There’s a big difference between being a “preacher for the church” (common, unbiblical phrase among us) and a “servant of the church” Col 1.25. One is an employee, sometimes a lackey; the other an obedient follower of the Lord Jesus.
