Any name attached to “Christian” diminishes the Lordship of Christ. If the name does not stand alone, it cannot stand at all.
The world is full of drama or, to be more precise, emotional upheaval, heated conflict, and selfish tirades. Christians need not add to it, there is already plenty of it. Their task is to offer a solution for it. That solution is Christ; his character, peace.
In no way can the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ be diminished. He is Sovereign. He did the will of his Father completely. He holds all authority in heaven and on earth. He alone can save. Man must hear him, acknowledge him, believe in him, obey him, persevere in him, in order to be saved eternally. So we glory in him, proclaim him, trust in him. “Christ is all” Col 3.11.
To be truly yourself, imitate Jesus.
The center of our faith must always be engaged. “Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, a descendant of David; such is my gospel” 2Tm 2.8.
Some may say, “What difference does it make?” This attitude has caused wholesale departure from God’s truth; this attitude causes multitudes to do as they please and refuse to bow to the authority of Jesus Christ. —Basil Overton
Whatever statements can be made about the Way, they are but variations on a single theme: God created man for love and seeks him faithfully, Christ is the highest demonstration of that love and the only price for his redemption, the Holy Spirit is the dynamic of our relationship for power and truth and hope of eternal life.
