The original order in the Bible verse reads, “Repent, and each one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins” Acts 2.38. One new self-styled “evangelical” version puts it this way: “You must repent, for the forgiveness of sins, and each one must be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.” Why do you think it does that?
It is usually fruitless to teach people to forgive before dealing with the anger they feel. When a person first resolves his anger, he feels free to forgive.
Without forgiveness, there is only anger and vengeance and bitterness. Forgiveness allows love to flourish, growth to occur, and peace to reign in the heart.
The Way is not for people without sin, but for people who feel the need for forgiveness, 1 Kgs 8.46; Jas 3.2; 1 Jn 2.1.
