“I hope, by God’s grace, that I am truly a Christian, not deviating from the faith, and that I would rather suffer the penalty of a terrible death than wish to affirm anything outside of the faith or transgress the commandments of our Lord Jesus Christ.” —Jan Hus
The Lord’s supper recenters us. It draws us back to the reason for God’s action among men. It focuses on why God became flesh and the goal of our faith, the salvation of our souls and that of others, 1 Pet 1.9.
The center of our faith must always be engaged. “Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, a descendant of David; such is my gospel” 2Tm 2.8.
Jesus spoke of a faith that moved mountains. To start with, we need a faith that moves us to convert to Christ: “…a great number who believed turned to the Lord” Acts 11.21.
